Bryce was sorted into Ravenclaw at age 11 (almost 12), seven years ago and spent most of seven years at Hogwarts buried in books. He studied hard and earned good marks for the most part, but he couldn't keep his personal life out of his school life - no matter how hard he tried (and he tried very hard). Especially with the untimely deaths of his parents - his Dad dying on Christmas of his first year and his Mom dying in a plane crash in Australia between his fourth and fifth years - Bryce has always put his family first and once orphaned, he made sure to especially keep him and his sisters together. Nearly losing Sydney McAlarney in the same plane crash that killed their mother (and apparently her boyfriend) made Bryce fight even harder to keep the family unit one. He always feared that Sydney would become a great and powerful witch - and he still does - but his fears spiked when she turned out to be an actual witch. He kept even closer tabs on her when she was accepted at Hogwarts, even though the Hat put her in Gryffindor (one can never be too careful).
Through the years, going to Hogwarts with Sydney meant that for once he wasn't alone at the school. He especially bonded with her over Quidditch, which they both took up with enthusiasm. And much of his wariness regarding her using her powers to coerce and manipulate others - which were fears he also had for himself when he was younger - faded as he watched her blossom into a fierce warrior for her own people. Her attention to Eoin Brady and her protectiveness toward him assured Bryce that she was powerful but that, for not, she was using her powers for good.
Adelaide McAlarney, their muggle sister, was another issue for him entirely. Bryce felt helpless in protecting her while he and Sydney were at Hogwarts. He saw an opportunity when his good friend and fellow Ravenclaw Beater, Rickard Reynolds, seemed to take a liking to Addie. With a little skill, Bryce managed to convince his sly friend to keep a close watch on his sister whenever he could. Bryce remains grateful that Addie doesn't know what he's done and how he's used romantic attraction to assure him that she's well taken care of. He has watched her blossom into a very talented and promising actress - shouldn't have been so surprised after the life-long performance their mother put on for them.
And what would his history be without mentioning Pru Young...his best friend and companion? They'd been through a lot together...maybe too much. From witnessing murders to narrowly escaping rogue bludgers to identity crises (thanks to the Turatis) to romance at midnight in the Forbidden Forest, if not for Pru, Bryce was certain his life would have been a lot dimmer than it was. And now that he's graduated from Hogwarts, he misses having her nearby all the time. There's no doubt to him that it's love...but might it be something else too?
Personality and Fun facts: {2 good sized paragraphs: 6-8 sentences each}
Bryce has a wily sense of humor. He values wit and sarcasm as forms of entertainment (as long as they aren't malicious in intention and delivery). Personality-wise, he is a very bright young man and has considered going to muggle university and then medical school to become a doctor, but his fascination and desire to be in the Wizarding World - his father's world almost exclusively - keeps him pursuing medi-wizardry fiendishly. He's not always good with words, but when he's on point, he relishes being the entertainer. At most other times, he just prefers to have a good time without being harrassed. He is also friendly, even though he is introverted and doesn't draw his emotional energy from being around people. He likes learning about and getting to spend time with people around him.
He has never dared to do so in public, but Bryce has a rather nice singing voice. He and Addie enjoy singing duets with each other when they are together, and that's about the only time he'll ever be caught dead singing. Back in their third and fourth year, Bryce knew that Johnny Barker had a massive crush on him, and it was during these years that he began to wonder if he might also be attracted to boys. He liked Johnny well enough and the amount of time he spent providing shelter for his friend (who had run away from his family home on threat of death) had created within him a certain special love for the young man. In their sixth year, Bryce did develop a similar admiration/crush on his friend Rickard, who was without a doubt heterosexual, and because of these attractions, Bryce considers himself bisexual. His main medical area of interest is in neuroscience.

The lights in the house dimmed as the musicians in their orchestra pit began to warm up. Bryce was impressed with the set onstage: it was meant to be a house, but instead of walls, it was more like scaffolding. The second floor was clearly comprised of two rooms on either side of a clearly demarcated second level hallway with stairs, but it was minimally dressed with a window frame hanging down on each side. The ground level was also dressed minimally: on one side was a kitchen table with dishes upon it and four chairs set around it, but behind it, there was nothing but darkness. On the opposite side, there was just an electric piano. Despite the minimalist approach, Bryce thought this house looked complete. He turned to Addie, sitting beside him.
"How is it that so much can be explained in a set with so few actual items on stage?" He whispered as the house began to hush.
"Easy," she whispered back. "You just need to know what you're going to absolutely need in the scene and then dress the set with only those things. It's called minimalism."
"So, what is this play about?" Bryce asked just as the musicians began to play the opening.
"Mental illness. Hallucinations. Death. Life. Shut up and watch." Addie whispered back with a chuckle. She grabbed his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. And, really, she was right. It was about death and life and mental illness and hallucinations. At the intermission...which he'd mistakenly called "halftime" for the thousandth time...Bryce had to take a deep breath and let it out.
"Merlin's beard." He said trying to make sense of what he was seeing. "Did she just try to kill herself? I mean, Gabe is there telling her, essentially, that she could join him forever in his world...but I...I really don't want to think that she just tried to kill herself." Addie grinned and shook her head to say that she wasn't telling him anything. Bryce frowned. "Well...Johnny is totally killing the role. He's creepy as heck! I sort of wish you had been cast in that sister role though." He smiled sadly at his sister who smiled sadly back but shrugged. "You'd have been amazing at it."
