Spells are the core of a Wizarding Society, they truly set Wizards apart from Muggles. Ability does not mean you should actually use the spells listed, nor does it guarantee success against any other spell. Year given is the average age at which basic ability is achieved. Claiming ability more than two years before average ability requires admin approval or professor recommendation.
A charm is meant to bring genuine joy or admiration through its magic. Many believe this to be the easiest type of spell to learn and cast.
A counter curse is meant to extinguish the effects of a curse, hex, or jinx, although more powerful curses resist counterspells or counter curses and may need additional forms of magic to truly abolish.
A curse is used to bring about a definite harm to another being or object. There are three curses considered to be 'unforgiveable' by the Magical Community, although all forms of cast curses are punishable.
A healing spell is meant to bring about a source of relief from injury, ease the ailments, and refresh and rejuvinate for another healthy day.
A hex is a mild curse, one that tends to bring bad luck unto another. A tendency of plagues and other such horrors are usually experienced.
A jinx is another form of a mild curse, much like that of a hex. A jinx tends to be more familiar and laughable.
A transfiguration spell is meant to change/alter the physical appearance of one object or being into another. Often times a transfiguration can be cast incorrectly without the correct training.
This is not a complete list of Spells. If you would like to submit a spell please send us the name, incantation, and a one-line descrption.
