Every story has a beginning, and Jonathan Fox is no different than anyone or anything else. Well, excepting the fact he's a Wizard with an extremely long lineage of pureblooded family members, some of whom have dabbled in dark arts and others who've risen above.
The Travers lineage is one of the pure twenty-eight families still left in the UK, and they are notorious for inter-marrying within the pureblood circles. There have been famous Travers' healers, a Headmistress of Hogwarts, a Headmaster of Durmstrang, right-hand men of Dark Wizards, famous potion-brewers, a wandmaker of notable ability, and several others. Millicent Travers was born of high importance, bred to be accepted within the highest of social circles, skilled in charms and potion brewing, and a Gryffindor at Hogwarts. She came from a small family, her uncle a famous supporter and follower of the Dark Lord during that reign; her father a supporter of the darkness that enveloped the span of many dark wizards. However, her mother, a Malfoy, was a bit softer in comparison, although quietly followed the political news during those long years. Millicent attended Hogwarts, Gryffindor House, and fell in love young. During her fourth year, she began spending more and more time with an older Gryffindor, another pureblood who eventually revealed he was more interested in her lineage and the powerful secrets her family held than he was in her or a life together. The scorn stung, it turned her a little more hostile than ever, forced her to become even more quiet which was something considering her quiet nature, but she eventually found another person.
Matthew Fox was considered to be a half-blood. His father was a muggleborn, and Jacob had attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hufflepuff House. His family was well to do in the Muggle World, their son created quite a stir with the news of his strangeness being accounted for by being a Wizard. At this time, the Statue of Secrecy was still in place, and the general public did not know about Wizards and Witches. Right after Hogwarts, Jacob's family asked him to never darken their doorway again, and Jacob was on his own, but he didn't mind as he was on a fast track career in the International Confederation in the Ministry of Magic, where he met his future wife. Nnenna was from a pureblood family in Africa, where she attended Uagadou School of Magic. After her own graduation, she also joined the International Confederation within her own Ministry, where she was dispatched to Britain. Matthew was their only child, loved and cultured to value a pureblood life he would never fully belong to, although could easily move within because of his upbringing and almost pureblood status. He was in Ravenclaw, and never really fit in. Anywhere he went, anything he did, Matthew just never fit. Not until he met Millicent.
Matthew and Millicent had passed one another several times in Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, Hogsmeade, but had never thought much about the other. Not until one night, late at the bar, where Millicent took a seat on the barstool next to an older gentleman, hoping to get her drinks for free. And free they came, for several weeks as the two continued to meet up at the pub, she was lavished with compliments he was given several sultry looks, and on a whim they eloped, as many did during this reign of Lord Voldemort. Thankfully, it worked out for both of them, despite the twenty-six year age gap.
Jonathan was the third of five children, but their economic status didn't allow any of the five to feel strains. Rather, they grew up, each having everything, things handed on literal silver platters. The five siblings were not close, but held the same values that particular bloods were better than others, however, there were particular ways in which they were able to connect on higher levels. Even today, the siblings rarely speak to one another, unless their appearance is noticed at a societal function.
As a child, there was a great fear in the Wizarding World, the reign of Lord Voldemort was full of terror for those who couldn't even make friends outside of a known person due to the Death Eaters who loomed in wait. With brother and sisters who rarely spoke to one another, this made for a rather lonely childhood. Once at Hogwarts, with two older sisters already halfway to graduation, Jonathan was sorted into Gryffindor, away from both sisters who lived within Slytherin quarters. A year later, his youngest sister joined him in Gryffindor, and two years later his brother, and youngest sibling, began his life in Ravenclaw.
Most of his life was uneventful during his years at Hogwarts, even if the news outside of the castle walls were not. He rose successfully in his classes, surpassed several other students in spell work and became Prefect of Gryffindor in his year, as well as Head Boy later on.
After Hogwarts he started at the Ministry inside the Department of Transportation, working with the Floo Network. It was within this Department Jonathan met Ester. At first, he didn't feel there was anything special, but they started dating, and as their relationship progressed Jonathan did what was right, he asked Ester to marry him, and she said yes. It was expected after seven months of dating during this period of time with the darkness surrounding everyone and everything, and in March, a month after asking for Ester's hand in marriage, they tied the knot in a small ceremony with only his parents in attendance. Approximately a year later Ester gave birth to their oldest son, William. It was five years later they had another son, Shannon, and chose to be done. Things in the world were falling apart, and Ester and Jonathan learned things between them were also falling apart. Life was becoming too difficult to live lies, but it was a time when they needed to keep their heads low, especially as Jonathan was helping to fix the Floo Networks to allow witches and wizards to disappear easily if needed.
When Jonathan turned 37, Ester served him with papers for divorce. Their children spent most of the year at Hogwarts where they were not affected by the nasty bitter divorce, William half way through his sixth year and Shannon in his first year. The Great Battle had taken place not long after William had started there and thankfully the aftermath had mostly been patched up. Jonathan had fought on Potter's side, though he hadn't been at the battle, he'd done work from inside the Ministry through the whole war.
It wasn't until Jonathan was 45 he met Delilah, and the instant spark was there. Everything that had been missing from his life with Ester was suddenly there, her touch brought him to life, she made their entire experience of dating worth every night of lost sleep, she eventually moved in with him after three years of dating and made his house a home. She accepted his children, though she was a year younger than William when they met. Delilah had only been 24 when Jonathan had locked eyes with her on the street. It had only been by happenstance she'd been a witch. Three years later, after she moved in, Jonathan began understanding another side of life. There wasn't just black and white anymore, there was so much gray, and with Delilah's help, Jonathan began to understand her family and her history. Two years later, after dating for five years, when Jonathan was 50, he and Delilah married, her family's approval noticed everywhere with their attendance and acceptance of his less than pure-bloodline.
It was also that year Deidre was born. And two years later, Dominic joined their happy family.
But nothing special happened after their births. Jonathan, over the last years had moved up within his positions at the Ministry, making his family very proud. His older sons took a while to accept Delilah, but she introduced them into her world as well, even introduced Shannon to Illana. Both of his older children visit regularly, and often dropped their children (Jonathan's grandchildren) off to the happily wedded couple.
One year before Deidre was set to start Hogwarts, tragedy struck. Jonathan awoke in the morning, as per the norm, his wife lying still and he didn't wake her as he readied himself for work. When he returned home, his children having a week at their Grandmother's, Jonathan found Delilah still in bed, lying still, and not breathing. To this day, three years later, Jonathan still believes she was murdered in her bed and refuses to accept that she died of natural causes. Instead, Jonathan throws himself into work, but never fails to make time for his children and grandchildren.
Personality Description:
A man who is devoted to many things, Jonathan finds ways to balance his family life with his work. He is extremely fond of his children and grandchildren, and loves his job. There are very few who would say Jonathan is anything but loyal. His love for his family is obvious in the way he looks upon them and ensures they are never left wanting. Jonathan can also be persistent when something strikes him amiss, which has often helped him to advance his career over the years.
While charming, Jonathan's real qualities shine when someone thinks of him as rather persuasive and ambitious. Although it has taken decades to become Head of his department, Jonathan's ambitions are more reserved and his patience holds true with his persistence to get where he wants, when he wants.
Educated and informed, Jonathan often ensures his mind is well prepared with the latest news. In his line of work, he needs to stay on top of things.
Lastly, Jonathan is respectable, reliable, and charismatic. He shows respect to another, and is quick to save judgment, but will just as quickly lose his respect if one is unworthy. Jonathan is the kind of man who gets along with most, despite his own ambitions and beliefs.
Physical Description:
Height: 6'2"
weight/build: 183lbs / slim and fit
Skin tone: dark
hair color and style: graying and short
eye color: dark brown
Jonathan is an older man, but he does not quite yet look his age. A fairly good looking man with graying hair, he has an easy way about him. Although his smile is friendly and inviting, it can turn vicious when he is given news he does not like or finds you disrespecting history, politics, family, friends, or authority. His dark brown eyes look as though they are filled with untapped wisdom. Tall and slender, the man still has an intimidating presence, when entering a room most eyes are drawn to the Head of his Department.
Dressing as a professional, the man often wears suit and tie under his official robes. However, on the weekends he can be found strolling around home with his children and grandchildren, dressed more casually in jeans or golf shorts, polo shirts and tennis shoes.

Special Talents:
While extremely skilled in most wandwork and herbology, Jonathan also has worked for many years to develop an uncanny use for Occlumency. He is still practicing with legilimency, but has yet to master the other side of the mind. A skilled chess and gobstones player, Jonathan had once thought about switching career tracks and heading in the direction of games, but the dream was overtaken by another. He is also an extremely good family-man, kind and understanding with his children and grandchildren. Patience is considered a virtue, but for Jonathan it is also a talent.
RP Example: The afternoon was rather warm for this time of year, and Jonathan had chosen to enjoy it. Dominic was running around Diagon Alley, most likely glued inside the Quidditch shop, calculating in his mind what he wanted when he started Hogwarts. Brooms for first years were allowed if they were on the teams, but the rest of the gear could be given for any reason, although Jonathan didn't know why his son would want the equipment without a broom. He loved his son, but knew he still needed to learn quite a bit before becoming the star Dominic thought he was.
Jonathan had chosen to stroll into Hatter and Hare's Tea Shop for a lovely nip and sip. The shop appeared to be rather busy that afternoon, many people taking in the comfort of the warm breeze that was unwarranted, but cherished in the beginning of February. There was a small wait to get a table, and Jonathan smiled and called a cheery hello to several faces he recognized once he'd been seated. It appeared quite a few others were sharing their own tables with others who had come by themselves as well and Jonathan looked around to see if he might be sharing his table as well. Just because he was the Head of a Department didn't mean he needed special treatment, and he chuckled quietly to himself as he thought about how terrible of a thought that truly was. He rarely received special treatment anymore, he did when his wife passed away a couple of years ago, but no longer. And it suited him just fine because he was on the same level as so many others, he didn't need special treatment.
He saw Dominic's face appear in the window, and he waved, but his son pointed to his wrist, held up ten fingers, and took off. Ten more minutes, mmhmm, Jonathan expected he'd be staying there for at least an hour. Looking up, he suddenly saw a familiar face, one that was a little unexpected, but friendly enough that he waited to see if there would be a table opening up. When it appeared not, he stood and waved the young blonde in his direction.
