To begin with ones history, you really have to get a good feel for those who came before one.
Daniel Zane Hulslander and Sylvia Nemie (Ikolf) Hulslander
Dan was born to a very well-off family, sent to Eton, attended Oxford, and took his place in the family business along with three brothers. By the age of twenty-four, he met, fell in love with, and married the woman of his dreams. Sylvia was young, full of life, and a witch. Now, this was before the statute of secrecy was broke, before muggles were well aware of witches and wizards. Immediately, the young twenty year old woman found herself whisked off by Dan, and her pregnancy led her to be honest with him about her magical blood.
Born as a pureblood, it was strange for her to fall for a Muggle man, but her family didn't mind. They were quite the muggle lovers themselves and celebrated her marriage with much joy. Dan and Sylvia, despite coming from very different worlds, worked well together. Dan was quirky, very intelligent, and quite interested in the Wizarding World. What Sylvia missed was just how interested he was in it. Their three children were born, and grew, but as the last made it to his late teens Sylvia noticed many changes in Dan, especially when he tried to kill her.
Jeb Aaron Blackshoot and Heather Irene (Ouslander) Blackshoot
Jeb was a pureblood wizard, who was raised by purebloods, and loved the less agreeable pure-blooded ways. He was brought up and lived in the Slytherin house at Hogwarts, bred to be cruel and disagreeable, but he also fell in love with a woman who shared his viewpoints. As a student, he valued what Slytherin stood for, and his days following he valued it as well. As a Death Eater, he was quick to try and rise within Voldemort's circle, but he never came close to being in the inner one. Instead, he was an outcast of sorts, but attempted to prove his worth in many ways. His last attempt was made at Hogwarts, during the Great Battle, when he lost his life.
Heather was a young woman raised in society, given what she wanted, and taught to believe she was better than everyone but those who were truly great. She also attended Hogwarts, but was placed in Ravenclaw, her parents were only slightly jilted by this fact, and bribed her to remain close to ties that were certain to get her far. That was how she met Jeb, and they married, had three beautiful children they agreed to raise wickedly, but she lost her husband not longer after the birth of her third child, and was widowed, left to raise them all on her own.
Daniel without Sylvia
Daniel, without his wife, broke down, completely melted. But no one really understood, not his brothers, mother, and surely not Sylvia. No one could explain his sudden emotional train wreck, his need for attention he could not gain. Well, one person could, but that person wasn't to be revealed to anyone.
So for eight years he was with very little contact to his wife or children, and seemingly went into a life of a hermit.
Heather without Jeb
For eleven years Heather had to raise her children without help. Yes, there were men in her life, but none who wanted a family, a woman with baggage. For years she was scorned, not only because she refused to search for the "greater of their world", for knowingly been married to a man who was a Death Eater, but also because she was a single mother of three children. One daughter, and two sons, all attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and two out of three lived the same kind of life she had planned for herself, her two eldest children married into other pure-blooded families, while her youngest had a life of his own planned and carried out.
This was all before she met Daniel's "helper".
The Three Blackshoot Children
Elise - 37 years old
As a young child she always showed a dark side, one that relied on clawing her way up a ladder of wealth and society. At Hogwarts she was sorted into Slytherin and quickly climbed the social ladder, being quite frivolous and fickle. Graduating in the top six of her class, the girl worked for one year with the Ministry where she met a man ten years her senior and convinced him to leave his family for her. It worked, and she's been with him since, with two of her own little monsters who can do no wrong. The man she married was a pureblood, whom married a half-blood with great ties to her muggle family side, and three children. Elise's children are Alecto and Alicia, of whom are 16 and `12.
Zypher - 34 years old
Another child who would've done his father proud had Lord Voldemort survived the last battle. He's always had a knack for torturing those less worthy than he. Constantly trying to push the limits, he followed his elder sister into Slytherin and made a name for himself as a cruel leader, but a leader nonetheless. Now second-in-command as a Hit-wizard in the Ministry of Magic, he abuses his powers to gain what he wants when he wants (or needs) it. Married with five children, only three are with his wife, Ophelia. Their three children include Typhon, age 16; Sophie, age 13, and Hank, age 7. With one mistress (Alyssa), he has a young boy named David, age 13; and with another (Mary) he has a young daughter, Alice, age 9.
Blaise - 31 years old
Blaise is slightly different from both of his elder siblings. He still commands attention, holds leadership qualities, and is quite a con-artist, but he puts it to greater use. While he woos various women, at any age, he only takes a bit from each that he feels he rightly deserves for putting up with their needless endlessness. A lover of women, and even some men, he's learned to never work a day in his life, but instead sold an idea off right out of Hogwarts and has enough to live quite comfortably for a number of years because of the sale. And with his wooing and conning, he's likely to never have to work another day in his life, ever. He currently has no children, has never been married, but has broken up seven otherwise happy couples, and has recently been seen with three different women, and one man.
The Three Elder Hulslander's
Yancy - 38 years old
A half-blood who attended a lesser known school of magic, Yancy also works for the Ministry of Magic in the Transportation Department. He does not see the world as black and white, but with many gray areas and does not believe in the pure race that so many other purebloods do. While he mostly grew up with both of his parents, Yancy was never quite close to his mother and resented her with she ran from his father and filed for divorce. Married, with three children (Lynne at age 18, Jared at age 16, and Isla at age 14) to a pure-blooded woman named Nan, he is quite comfortable in life.
Ursula - 37 years old
Also having attended a lesser known school of magic, Ursula had a difficult time interacting with others she was introduced to. In many ways, she has become a shrew, having never had children, or married, or even ever having had a boyfriend, the woman lives on her own in a very strange home with a ghoul and a number of crups. Recently she has looked into adopting a child, someone to keep her company and to help in the world, but the idea has been forgotten many times. She was able to recently adopt, a young girl named Jaylene, age 9.
Nee - 30 years old
A young man of frivolous nature, he very much resembles his father with his dark good looks. Nee also likes women far too much to settle down with just one just yet, but he has one daughter, named Jennifer at age 4, a daughter named Rachael at age 2, and a son on the way, to be named Gregory. He works for Gringrotts and travels around the world, going wherever he is needed. Skilled with Charms and Ancient Runes, he's been highly valued and asked to join the Ministry one day, with hopes of perhaps trying for the Minister of Magic, but his own life ambitions are far different.
Heather and Daniel
Daniel met Heather years ago, through Sylvia at a party she once threw. A spark lit up both of them that night, but they didn't meet again until almost eight years after each had lost their spouse. Once more sparks filled the air, but Heather was more interested in just the man she could possibly be with. Rather, she knew of the secret that he was being controlled by another Wizard, and had been since before the Battle at Hogwarts. He was useful in his own ways, to have a Muggle around, and this one had not given reason as to why he should be killed, and therefore he has been kept around.
Heather and Daniel tied the knot in a quiet ceremony, mostly because Heather could not believe she was willing to stoop to such low levels and marry a Muggle, but it was for the greater good. And after many years of resisting urges and temptations, Heather finally gave in and soon gave birth to four more children.
The Four Youngest Hulslander's
Clover - 20 years old
Quiet and keen, Clover tends to follow calmer crowds than the rest of the family. Intelligent, sweet, and loving, she feels like the black sheep in her family. She was recently thrown out of the Hulslander home for a multitude of reasons and currently resides with her girlfriend, Helen.
Portia - 16
A young girl with a lot of spunk and life, she was sorted into Slytherin at Hogwarts, which suited her just fine. Extremely dangerous and very wild, the young girl has been known to be a hair-raiser for many.
Jed - 14 years old
Still growing into his own, Jed tends to get himself into more trouble that what it's worth most of the time.
Valerie - 18 years old
Valerie was born on a dull day, there wasn't anything special about it, nor was there anything magnificent about the union of those she calls her parents. Other than the fact her mother chooses to use her father, who is under a multitude of spells and influenced every day by potions, Valerie is surprised he hasn't become immune to them yet. Her life has been fairly easy, having been blessed (or cursed) by one older, and two younger siblings, all of who she is to assume are her full-siblings, but she knows that isn't the case. Her older siblings have nearly nothing to do with her family, unless it is outside of their home and not in the presence of her father, and those her father fathered before marrying her mother have nothing to do with them, and it will always remain that way.
Growing up in her home was easy. She had almost anything she could ever ask for, friends before she could walk, money before she could talk. Apparently she was a pretty baby, her mother threw her into modeling before she knew who she was, and she's remained in the spotlight since. Clover, her older sister never cared, having always walked her own path in life, but Portia, her younger sister is as jealous as they come. Jed, he could care less.
Going to Hogwarts was what came next, her next step in life, and she was related to so many people there that she knew of it almost disgusted her. With as many half-siblings as she had and all of their affairs, it was a surprise they didn't have a mark hanging over their heads, claiming it to be such. As it was, there were always whispers following her around, sometimes because her face was so noticeable from photo shoots, sometimes because her name led to other thoughts, and mainly because of the wars she and Portia waged in Slytherin against one another.
It isn't that Valerie doesn't care for her sibling, she just knows that one day, if it were to come down to it, Portia wouldn't hesitate to kill her, and she needs to be ready in case that day does come.
Hogwarts life was a breeze, though she made it difficult for herself. Valerie spent her time with those her mother told her to, loving the attention from others she wasn't supposed to care for, but never letting on that she really had enjoyed that attention. She was announced Quidditch Captain, also made Head Girl her seventh year. Her team never once won under her reign, and she wonders if she shouldn't have tried harder, then she realizes, it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
Now that she's graduated, she has to figure out what to do with her life. She could continue to model, it's what her contractor wants her to do, her mother would love for her to do, but Valerie's got more to prove and refuses to be held back any longer...
Personality Description:
Over the last few years, Valerie has matured. She's become exactly what her mother has always wanted of her, someone calculating, cool, and collected. Some might say the girl is cruel, but she hasn't quite hit that mark of personality yet. There's still something she's holding onto, hoping for a more humane view from those she surrounds herself with. But with each passing day, she gets further and further away from being what she could've been had she had a different situation.
She knows how to laugh and have a good time, but she's careful, sometimes too careful. Depending on who she is with, what they're doing, she won't be free. There's only one person she's ever felt close to being herself around, and she'd never name who that person was, doubts even he knows it to be true.
The truth of it is, Valerie hasn't a clue who she is or what she wants out of life. She can be brutally honest to a fault, calculating and fearsome, loathing and deceitful, but she can also show kindness, although it's rare for her to do so.
Physical Description:
Height: 5'8"
Weight/Build: 118lbs
Skin Tone: Caucasian with a blush
Hair Color and Style: dark brown, long, full, wavy
Eye Color: medium brown
Personal Scent: pomegranate, cherry, and cane sugar
As with her personality, her looks have matured. She's grown inches taller in the last couple of years, her hair is longer and rests in long waves along her shoulder blades, she's worked so much during the summer months that she's lost the natural tan she once had but it was to her benefit of losing it. Her skin, which had once been able to hold a light tan all through the year is now a suitable pale, her fine features settling well with it, the blood blush she holds lending to her beauty that she's finally come into. Some might actually call her striking, if only she would smile every once in a while without holding back.
She still prefers to dress in the latest fashion, whether others have heard of its fashionability or not, would never leave her apartment without make-up and her hair done perfectly, and still relies on what others think of her looks to give her mood a boost.
Likes:
- being noticed
- family lineage (finds it fascinating)
- her pink pigmy puff - Phfrou-Phfrou
Dislikes:
- muggle lovers and traitors
- those with incorrect information
- not knowing who she is
Special Talents:
Tainted with a talent for creatures and transfiguration, Valerie thinks the combination is odd and has no clue just what she might do with her future. Able to coordinate any outfit given a total of eight minutes, she has the ability to match shoes, purse, and other accessories with clothing, sometimes with an odd twist, but it always looks good. The girl is also able to freely spend money without thought on cost or where it's coming from. Spoiled from birth, she's working her way into quite a trophy wife who needs no-limit platinum credit cards. Valerie also has a talent for being accepted. She easily moves in and out of crowds without needing an actual clique.
RP Example:
That summer her modeling career would be over, not by force, but by choice. It was her contract she'd signed, stating this summer would be her last. Was she feeling guilty? Not even close, in fact, the former Slytherin was excited. She'd been modeling since age fifteen, every single summer she'd been forced to pose in this or that, wear the right clothes, only be seen with the right people, this wasn't what she'd wanted, not really. Her mother's doing was how she'd gotten into the fray of everything, and this was the last of it. Just a couple more months and then she'd really be free.
However, that thought brought others to her mind. What was she going to do with her life after modeling? Sure, she didn't need to hold a job, she was independently wealthy enough that money wasn't an issue at the moment. But Valerie couldn't imagine not having something to do once September rolled around. No Hogwarts? Not a big deal, but nothing other than lounging at home with her social-climbing mother? Not happening.
What could she do though? Something in the Ministry? Most likely. Healing? Possibly. Be a reporter... ugh, no. She didn't really like people and not too many people seemed to show an interest in her either, she needed to do something that would suit her basic social needs (the need to feel superior and make fun of others) while still holding herself high for what she was doing with her life. The problem was, there weren't too many jobs out there like that.
Taking a small break the day before she was to begin modeling new Quidditch robes due to the pending World Cup, Valerie had to stop in and sign papers (normal, daily kinds of things) at the main office in Diagon Alley, Valerie chose to take a break at the Leaky Cauldron. It was early enough in the break she doubted she'd be seeing anyone she cared or cared not to see, and it wasn't particularly busy right then, either.
Still, as she made her way back through the Alley and into the pub, she found that it didn't seem to matter the time of day, for it was still filled with people, doing business or stuffing their faces, or watering themselves.
Glancing around, Valerie had to do a double take before she realized she wasn't seeing things.
"Hello Captain Gryffindork," she smirked, dropping her form into a chair at the table without waiting to be offered a seat. Quinten was interesting, to say the least. She didn't quite know what his pull for her was, but she didn't really mind his company so much, either. "You look a little on the outs..."
And boy did he.
