Layla was also recruited as a Potions Teaching Assistant to younger students in her final year at Hogwarts under the supervision of Potions Mistress Desideria Tapia.
History:
Layla's lineage is clouded in the Moor dominance of Spain centuries ago. Both her mother and father's families come from long lines of marriages between families of Spaniard-Arabic mix, mostly from the provinces of Andalucía. This gave Layla a childhood full of travel between the provinces to visit her relatives and close family friends. Her immediate family does not know of any of their most recent ancestors to be witches or wizards, but they are not entirely sure of it.
Layla's father, Guillermo (or Nemo as the family refers to him) is a noted muggle cultural anthropologist who had studied the Maori for his dissertation. While Layla's mother, Isabel (or Chabela), is an archeologist and aided a project recovering remains from the Roman Empire. Fortunately for Layla and her two siblings, both Nemo and Chabela were satisfied with the extent of their fieldwork and have only been visiting their former areas of research sporadically to visit old friends, attend special events, and touch up on their language skills. They have spent the majority of their children's lives in Jaén, editing and revising texts for their former colleagues and students who have decided to continue their work, as well as editing for a number of anthropological and archeological journals.
At the ages of two and six, Layla became big sister to Esteban and Arcelia, respectively. Her childhood was happy, and her siblings were her best friends even after Esteban had dumped pasta into her toy chest. Of course, there were a number of strange events that no one could quite resolve, but they happened infrequently and were soon forgotten. But after Layla's 11 birthday, all was explained. Ministry official had come to their home and explained that she was a witch, and was invited to attend Academia Mágica Ibero, the school for magical children in the Iberian Peninsula. After Layla's third year, Nemo had been offered a generous salary at a private university to not only teach but also aid in the development and refinement of the anthropology department. Layla's headmaster had made some inquiries and told her she would be attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Layla's transition was smooth and painless. She had been sorted into Ravenclaw and found that she fit well with the Birdbrains. There were a few instances where the state of the Wizarding World was unfamiliar and strange enough for Layla to be pulled out of school by her parents. As muggles who didn't know how else to protect their eldest daughter. The first time, she was able to talk her parents into letting her got back, but they were not convinced the second time. She had resigned to learning theory from the safety of her home when she was so close to Diagon Alley for two years. When she was 17, and an adult witch, she left her house without notice and finished her 7th year at Hogwarts. It was equally difficult as it was relieving. She was nervous about the years she had missed, and almost felt guilty that her friends and classmates had gone through in the castle with deaths, kidnappings and invasion. Her confidence in her abilities were shot and it took her some time to readjust herself back into the swing of things. With the help of the Potions Mistress, her friends and classmates, she was able to finish her studies in good standing. She is experiencing her first years as a Healer and still trying to balance her life. Things have become increasingly difficult with the latest laws placed in the Wizarding World, and Layla hadn't told her family the extent of it to keep them from worrying.
Layla has been developing a relationship with Hogwarts, beginning with an epidemic with the school's population, and later with other events. In the Spring of 2026, she was asked to take charge of the Mediwizardry lessons since the Professor became too ill. The Healer had enjoyed her experiences with the Healers-in-Training, and figured it couldn't be that different.
Personality Description:
Layla is a very self-motivated person. It mostly comes from knowing how academic her parents are in the muggle world and she feels like she would disappoint herself and them if she doesn't do well. Her last year at Hogwarts had her in quite a bit of panic, and she was convinced she was going to fail at everything, though she didn't stop trying. It took her a while to realize that she was doing fine, and just needed some encouragement.
When she meets new people, she is generally quiet and may seem shy. She is mostly observant and keeps to herself because she sometimes thinks her first impression is wrong. She allows herself some time before deciding on what she thinks about someone or something to avoid this, and then doesn't change her mind much after she's made her judgment. She generally gives everyone the impression that she is sympathetic, kind and a bit awkward.
Layla's self esteem is a very fragile thing. She doesn't think poorly of herself most of the time, but it's easy to bruise her ego and make her second guess herself. She had always been a successful student, but always thought she could do better, and refused to ask anyone for help because she didn't want them to think she was fishing for compliments. She usually double checks her work until she's satisfied. Even though she may have complete confidence in someone else's abilities, Layla still likes to do important things alone. It just makes her feel that the task is complete when she has seen it herself. It always made it difficult for people to work with her. Aside from having a calm temperament, she has diagnosed herself with a mild case of tenacity, especially when she really thinks when she is right. It's only then that she can become a bit harsh in speech and mannerism. When she does get her point across and the other party agrees with her, she isn't always gracious about it and is a frequent user of the phrase 'told ya so' in its many forms.
Layla is very observant. She seems to remember odd things that no one else does, which always helped her in her favorite subject, Potions. It seems that there should always be some kind of underlying order to everything, whether she knows exactly what it is or not, and picks up on patterns and discrepancies. Organization is what keeps Layla sane. She's always had a planner for important things, and refers to it out of habit even though she knows she's not forgetting anything. She also tends to make lists to make her feel that things have an order or a place to go. Her living space is messy more often than not, but there is a method to the madness and she knows exactly where everything is.
Physical Description: Being mainly of Spaniard and Arabic descent, Layla is a display of many characteristics that are common in both ethnic groups. Her brown and slightly wavy hair lingers half way down her back, and is manageable on most days. She usually keeps it loose with her long bangs hanging to one side and tucked behind her right ear. In the sunlight, one can see the natural highlights, as they weave in and out of the full length of her hair. Her complexion is a soft and natural light brown that tans slightly and will betray her into a mad blush when she is embarrassed or bashful. She has her father's deep green eyes that seem to be recessive trait in his family, and is tall like her mother.

Special Talents: As a muggleborn witch, she's learned to be a bit more reserved than she would have years before, but it hasn't affected her natural curiosity. She will try anything once as long as it doesn't involve live insects. As a child, she went through several hobbies, usually losing interest after some time, but now she knows how to play a few instruments in varying degrees along with dancing, football, ballet and tennis. She still plays pick up football where she finds it, and continues to run for exercise when she's not losing sleep from work. Layla is also fluent in Spanish, some French and not enough Arabic much to her grandfather's disappointment.
RP Example:
Worried, green eyes were the only thing that gave Layla's face away as she looked down at the little boy the Healer was examining. Luckily, he didn't notice her face and could only grimace as the Healer gently touched his arm, which was covered in boils. The boy had been bought a faulty gag gift, and had been admitted into St. Mungo's covered in puss-filled sores. Layla had only been training for a week, and her limited interaction with the patients she met was driving her a bit crazy. She knew they the training process was long and difficult, but she didn't understand why she had to be there to take notes and not help.
She was proud of the little 6 year old boy, who was being brave despite his condition, but she had the intense need to walk past the Healer's stance and try to comfort him. Sensing her apprehension, the Healer looked over his shoulder and made another comment about the boy, which she dutifully wrote down in the records the hospital was creating. They hadn't known each other long since Layla had only been assigned to shadow and assist him a few days before, but he seemed to recognize her enthusiasm, bordering on impatience. She tried to give him a smile and turned her gaze to the parchment and quill in her hands, but couldn't contain the small sign of frustration that escaped her lips.
