Death Tolls Rising: Where Do We Turn?

The Ministry and the Daily Prophet Staff regret to report a long list of rising death tolls throughout the United Kingdom area.

Recently there have been reported explosions along the countrysides between Italy and the United Kingdom. Muggles, under strict Ministry instruction, have been forced to believe gas explosions have been occurring due to a particular gas company incorrectly mixing chemicals. However, we feel the truth must be printed for Wizarding eyes.

These explosions have nothing to do with gas, but are a combination of magic and potions. Aurors are working double time to find the source of these problems, to put a stop to what is taking place, killing innocent Witches and Wizards.

The following are those we have been able to identify that are victims of the explosions, and will be sorely missed:

Jacqueline Chaput, better known as Jax, was a star Quidditch Player (Keeper) for the Montrose Magpies. Deaf was a former Ravenclaw student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, his mother Marisa was a journalist for a Muggle company. Abigail Greenwater's career has not been disclosed. Nathan Lee, and his son Cooper, lived in a small village, where Nathan was a groundskeeper for the village. Henry Lordings Jr was an Auror for the British Ministry of Magic. Natalie Matthews, a muggle, worked with the Ministry as a Liaison between the worlds.

Death Knocks on Too Many Doors

Once again, the Ministry of Magic and the Daily Prophet Staff regret to inform all of our readers of more explosions leading to untimely deaths of many more.

We have forewarned our readers by way of our paper, and the Ministry has done the same with posters pinned on nearly every available space of every building in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Explosions have been reported over the last few months, investigations turning up information that these explosions are magical-based. It is now believed these explosions are being caused by the group La Sovranita, a criminal group well-known in Italy that has extended over many countries to reach into the United Kingdom.

Alexandra Bell was a former Ravenclaw student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, her parents whereabouts are unknown at this time. Demetrius Prescott-Fletcher was a former Hufflepuff student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he did not return for this most recent term, his legal guardian's whereabouts are currently unknown. Connor Manning was a former Healer at St. Mungos. Morgan Pearce was a Werewolf, registered with the Ministry of Magic and was unemployed. Brooke Scott was a promising Party-Planner. Tallulah Skeffington owned and managed Skeffington Pastry Shoppe. Starlight Twinkle was a Private Tutor of Charms for Home-schooled Witches and Wizards. Danny Walker was a former Gryffindor, who did not return to school for this past term, his parents were not home at the time of the attack. The Wickham family were attacked in their home; Walter was a Corporate Executive for an Internet Business, his wife Linda was a homemaker, their son Cameron's career has not been disclosed, his twin Christopher's whereabouts are currently unknown, and Emma was a former Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who did not return this past term.

Death is Loitering

It is to our grave disappointment that we must announce the death of a number of Ministry of Magic Employees. While Aurors are working around the clock, pulling in double and triple shifts, asking Hit-Wizards and Hit-Witches to join in the investigations, the details surrounding the deaths remain a mystery. We have been told there was nothing gruesome found at the scenes of crime, however, the deaths of these four fine former Ministry of Magic Employees will hit hard on all who knew them.

Jonathan Primm and Martha Bengal, both employees from the Department of Magical Transportation, were found early this morning in their respective homes. Kalen Tompkins, an employee in the Department of Magical Law was found later this morning in her apartment. And Minister of Magic runner William York was found in his office this afternoon after his wife of nineteen years reported him missing. The cause of death? One of the most horrid deaths we know, the Killing Curse seems to have been used on all four.

Officials are working on the investigations and do not advise Wizarding World Members to be out past nine o'clock at night without others knowing where they're leaving from and where they're arriving to. Please be advised to keep your wands on you at all times. If you find anything suspicious, please immediately notify officials.

The Reaper Strikes Again

Only weeks before the election of our new Minister of Magic, another death hits the polls. Marriam Webster, a favorite since the beginning of the race, was found dead in her Manchester home this evening. This makes for the second candidate favorite on the polls to die within a few months of the election., William York and other Ministry Officials were found in July under similar circumstances.

Earlier this summer, York, a crowd favorite, was the victim of a murder case, one that remains unsolved. And now, Ministry Officials are adding Webster to the unsolved cases, while Aurors are barely keeping above the paperwork from this summer's other murder cases, one involving a young girl at Camp Bluelake. Cries on the streets vary, but most are asking if there is no mercy left in the world. While there are other candidates braving to step up as competition to the remaining crowd favorite, Vincent Gheule, we are told it seems as if Gheule will be a shoe-in to the opening position.

Officials have stepped up round-the-clock protection surrounding Gheule at every turn. With only two weeks left to elections, many fear there may be another death not far off. Still, others are questioning the reason for the seemingliless deaths of York and Webster, and yet Gheule has been safe thus far.

Travesty Hits Again

Aurors are becoming disgruntled, unable to explain the deaths that have plagued our world as of late. The reasons behind them are unknown, the reasons why certain people have been targeted can only be assumed, but then things happen that make everyone wonder if there is any rhyme or reason behind it. Last night was another travesty. Again, members of our world, the Wizarding World, were found murdered at their homes, their workplaces, and in places we've been unable to explain why their presence was found.

The Ministry is doing everything they are able to to discover information leading to the culprits, leading to why these victims were targeted. If you have any information, please come forward to either the Daily Prophet or the Ministry, your anonymity will be upheld. Until then, the Ministry is asking that you please take caution in everything you do. Be selective in who you spend your time with and where, and please make sure to use protective spells to charm your homes and businesses so as not to bring unwanted visitors.

Annemarie van Aller had just recently left a nunnery, having decided to return to her roots after graduating from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it is currently unknown what her most recent business was. Calliope Bailey was a well-known model in the Britain area. Rael Forstner had recently left her employment at Flourish and Blott's to reconstruct her father's Creatures Farm. Howwie, Joshua, and Sierra Kid were all former students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it is unknown why they hadn't returned this semester. Their mother, Lisa Kid's career has not been disclosed. The Kid's are preceded by their Father, Hal Kid. Chase Quinn's career has not been disclosed, though he was a recent graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Dante Vroom, a former Ravenclaw at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was following the footsteps of his Grandfather, the famous Curse Breaker, Michelangelo Bruno.

The Grim Reaper Causes a Hold Up on Elections

A suspect was caught only one day before Elections of the new Minister of Magic. However, Ministry Officials do not believe this suspect is connected with the murders of other favorites.

Kim Jayson, a well-known criminal in Italy made an attempt to end crowd favorite, Vincent Gheule's life yesterday. Jayson, it is being told, arrived at Gheule's office in an attempt to black mail the Minister Candidate. Bodyguards on the scene were asked to please leave the room, under the advisement of Gheule himself. We are told the guards remained stationed outside the only window and the door in Gheule's office, but did not enter the scene until they heard an explosion.

Upon arrival, Gheule was found incapacitated on the floor, while Jayson stood over him laughing like a maniac.

Gheule was rushed to St. Mungo's, where upon only his assistant, Jan Henley, was permitted access. We are told by Ministry Officials the elections will be postponed another week until Gheule is able to be available for speeches and comments if he is to win the race.

Investigations are underway, though it has been reported that Jayson is not believed to have connections in the deaths of Webster, Primm, Bengal, Tompkins, and York. Perhaps, however, Jayson will have information leading to the arrest of the murderer.

Just When We Thought Everyone was Safe...

Tonight the Daily Prophet has learned of the death of a number of former Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Alum and Students who did not make the return at the beginning of the September term.

The Ministry has assured the Daily Prophet its members will not rest easily tonight as they search for the scoundrels in charge of the sudden explosions that stole the lives of many this evening. As wide-spread as the deaths of last year had been, tonight's show us no more information than we had before. The explosions have been identified as being cause from a peculiar potion that is not Ministry approved, but the ingredients have been identified and currently all inventory of apothecaries within this region are being investigated, as well as a new crack down on the black market that swims in shadier areas of our world.

Paul Becket was a member of the Ministry, Department of Magical Games and Sports, his wife Lisa was a homemaker, and their youngest child, daughter Anna, had just completed her second year of Auror Training. Josef Branko's employment has not been disclosed, although he is suspected as having ties with another Ministry of Magic. Bronson Calliway was a former student of Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry, having not yet completed his Seventh Year of Schooling, although the heir of the Vanderwilt and Calliway fortune, his Aunt Ava Vanderwilt had been his adoptive mother after the untimely deaths of the Calliway's. Khristofer Johnsen was a former student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, his parents whereabouts are currently unknown, as is the reason he was pulled from Hogwarts. Julianna McNutt was a Florist, her son Dustan McNutt had just started his own business for Landscaping in the Wizarding World. Phoenyx Raven's employment status is currently unknown, as is the reason she was in the McNutt household when their home had been targeted. The Starlite's family will be missed by their community, their forms of employment have not yet been disclosed. Johan Woulfe was an Unspeakable in the Ministry of Magic. Heather Wynter was currently unemployed, having recently left Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft well over two years previously.

A Hope for Us All

Lorenzo Turati (John Young)

Finally,we see progress. After years of trying to find a face behind these heinous crimes, there has been an arrest. Last night, Lorenzo Turati, age 47 was convicted for the counts of multiple cases of homicide. This man, who has been going under the alias John Young for almost three decades, is responsible for the death of the following people, along with many others who are currently unknown at the moment.

On September 9th 2025, Lorenzo was arrested after murdering over half his family. It is assumed to be in order to keep them quiet. Mary, a muggle school teacher, was the first to be killed with the killing curse. Paul, also a muggle, was next. It appeared as though John Jr., an Auror, was not supposed to die right away but at a later date, unfortunately he walked in on the killings and was killed himself. Lorenzo has left behind two surviving children. The first, George Young, has yet to be located. He is presumed to be dead but it is unclear at this point whether or not it is at the fault of his father. Turati's other child, Prudence Young, is a third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The Silvae family was at first assumed to be killed in a car accident that killed them last year because of the accidental use of magic. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the accident was no usual accident. It was an intentional murder, which was later found out to be at the hand of the mass murderer, Lorenzo Turati. The wizarding line has left behind one heir, Allan Silvae, who is also a third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The other names have been seen in the prophet over the last year, but until now their murderer was unknown. Now the man responsible is in Azkaban and it can bring a bit of justice for those that were left behind with the pain that Lorenzo Turati left in his wake. The world can breathe a little easier tonight, now that this man, whom has torn apart families, relationships, and friendships, is behind bars and with be there for the remainder of his life.

The Waters Have Yet to Settle

Over the weekend reports have come in, more deaths have been accounted for. Although we were lead to believe by the Ministry that one, Lorenzo Turati, had been the rampant murderer that has plagued our world, we have learned tonight that he may not have been working alone. Or that his minions are trying to best us by forcing us to believe he wasn't a culprit in the murder investigations.

Five more explosions have been set off, the last only being just put out, and we have discovered six more bodies amongst the rubble of the buildings. What is strange to us about these most recent accounts is that one's only connection to the Wizarding World was her brother, so perhaps it was merely a case of wrong place, wrong night.

The Durham siblings did not live together, but it is being speculated that Katherine had been paying a visit to her youngest sibling, the only Wizard in their family. Samuel Durham was employed by a contractor in the Muggle world who wanted allies from the Wizarding World. Annabelle Marcus had only recently joined the ranks of the Ministry in the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures Department. Beatrix Rubin was a former Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and was most recently employed as a tutor to those who are home-schooled in the British area. Shoqueline Williams had graduated from Hogwarts a year previously and was working on opening her own business. Riley Winner was also a member of the Ministry of Magic.

We can all Breathe a Little Easier

With the Quidditch World Cup at its end, many are still unaware of the events which transpired in Spain. Ministry officials have done a commendable job in handling the situation, having apprehended Thomas Blaise, a possible accomplice to mass murderer, Lerenzo Turati (John Young). Officials say they were given a tip off from a source. Auror, Andrew Thornton, tells us that the source wishes to remain anonymous.

Blaise was arrested in his tent at the world cup during an assumed confrontation with his sister, Hogwarts student Ariella Blaise. It was confirmed that the sixteen year old was not the source of the tip which led to her brother's arrest.

The confrontation seems to have stemmed from a letter received by Blaise's younger sister. It stated that he was involved in the disappearance of his cousin Heather Thomas, younger sibling of Ashlyn Thomas who was killed late last year in a werewolf attack. Officials are led to believe Blaise acted alone for the purpose of luring his younger sister to the cup with the intention of trading Miss Thomas' life for his sister's.

His motivation is currently unknown as he has refused to speak as of yet. The Blaise family has made no comment on these events so far and had asked for privacy in this troubling time.

Another Layer Revealed

In late March, the Ministry received a lead in an ongoing investigation. It seems that for years money would go missing from different establishments. There seemed to be no connections to the crimes until a missing piece of information was brought forward, or more like several pieces of information. A concerned citizen who has asked to remain anonymous in this article was pivotal in the turn of these cases.

On April Third, Randall and Katherine Hampton were arrested on several counts: embezzlement, theft, use of the Imperius Curse, and improper and unsanctioned use of the Obliviate charm to name a few. This underground crime scandal has been happening discreetly for years by use of the Imperius curse. The Hamptons were able to get the employees and even the owners of different shops, both magical and muggle, to hand over money with no trace of their involvement. They used the Imperius curse on them to do their bidding and then obliviated them to erase the evidence. It is unknown at this time if they were acting alone for just their own benefit or working in a greater crime ring. The pair are currently in the custody of the Ministry with the trial set to take place in a week. With the evidence stacked against them it seems that justice will be served in the near future.

Crisis in the States Hits Close to Home

Tragedy struck at a wedding of two of the members of our community. Rayne Waller and Calvin Turati decided to do a destination wedding in North Carolina, USA. What started out as a beautiful ceremony ended with extremely unwelcome wedding crashers ending the lives or Mr. Turati and his pregnant bride.

Although this incident happened on October 31st 2028, we are just now getting the information from the investigation that MACUSA launched.

The investigation is still open as they have not yet found out who was behind the masks, several leads are being followed but none yet have panned out. Reports have it that MACUSA had been less then willing to share their investigative information about the crime.

After finally getting the process for the report, the names of the victims were confirmed.

Because of the manor of their deaths, the use of the Bombarda and Bombarda Maxima, their bodies were unidentifiable but with several eye witnesses their deaths were confirmed.

We were able to get a statement from one of the grieving family members. "We are beyond sad for the lost of our nephew Calvin and his wife Rayne, as well as for the Bortles family. We will not stop until we find out who is responsible for their deaths." Antonio Turati was quoted saying.
