History: Finley likes to say from the moment he was born he knew he was special. Maybe it was because he was doted over at every second as the first born and a male. Maybe it was because he was often told about the purity of their blood and the status of their family in the community. Maybe it was his attitude that blood purity made him better than others, a belief instilled in him by well meaning but ignorant parents who thought that pureblood was the only way to go. Who knows? From little on, however, Finley grew up being the center of his parents’ world. They doted on him and proudly showed him off. Even as a little kid, Fin loved the attention and was always trying to think of new things that he could do that his parents would fawn over.
Then his first younger sister, Cameron, was born when Fin was five. Of course, this took some of the attention off of Fin. It’s not like he was ignored, but he was definitely not the center of attention that he used to be. This sort of made him into a bit of a spoiled brat and this is when they knew for certain that he was going to be a wizard because things would start to fly when he was angry and he felt he wasn’t having enough attention paid to him. There was never a doubt, but it’s always nice to have that extra confirmation.
Fin’s parents worked really hard to get him to understand that his sister was a part of his family and he shouldn’t try and compete with her and that it wasn’t anything to be upset and when Fin was 7 and Cameron was 2 it worked for a bit, because he saw that his sister was maybe a little cool. However, then his second sister, Rodina was born and Fin acted up all over again. His parents, bless them, loved him very much, but they could never manage to tame his attitude towards his sisters. He loves his sisters and even thinks their pretty cool and even now let’s them call him Fin, but he still wants more attention and he still loves to boss them around.
Eventually Fin turned 11 and received his letter to Hogwarts. He thought this was great because he had been homeschooled for years and he was ready to go out and tell the world how great he was. He is convinced he will excel at Hogwarts and everyone will love him. How could they not?
However, upon arriving at Hogwarts he has found things to be much different. Not everyone loves him, in fact, he feels like most people hate him. Hogwarts is not the place of purity he was promised - in fact, he has found a lot of muggleborns, halfbloods, and blood traitors. His ideas are not welcome and not accepted - except by a select few, including one of his best friends, Bronson. With Bronson, in fact, he organized the writing of a message on the wall that said, "Anything less than pure is inferior; know your rightful place mudbloods."
However, complicating this is Madeline Longbottom. He is the 7th year that Finley developed a crush on. And part of the reason for that is that Maddy accepts his beliefs, despite the fact that she disagrees with his pureblood beliefs.
This has made Finley seriously rethink his beliefs. Eventually, through people like Maddy and Sarah, Finley was able to decide that it wasn't right to be a purist, that all people were equal no matter their blood status.
This has not always been without consequences though. The biggest being the fact that his family kicked Finley out. Having nowhere to go, Teddy Lupin took Finley in. Finley has always since loved Teddy and been fiercely loyal to him, but despite that, still misses his own family dearly. Whenever he can, he makes attempts to contact his parents and his sisters.
It also made him unpopular at school. The purists believed he was a blood traitor and those who knew him before didn't believe he really changed. It made for a very lonely and isolating time at Hogwarts. And to complicate matters further, Finley is starting to develop feelings for Ivy, with whom he has always had a complicated relationship. He confessed these feelings to Ivy and offered to help her escape her arranged marriage, but this freaked Ivy out and ended poorly. Now, his next step is to approach Ivy's grandmother, Theodora.
Even though approaching Theodora did not work, Finley was determined not to give up on his feelings for Ivy. His third and fourth years were full of complicated encounters with Ivy where he tried to win her heart and he failed every time.
Then came Finley's fifth year. Finley's fifth year is and has been a roller coaster of emotions. It started out terrible, with Finley's parents protesting at the train station, which lead to Finley's first panic attack. At first, Finley thought that his parents might have put a hex on him, but as he continued to experience panic attacks, he eventually went to Professor Layla Jimenez for help, who diagnosed him with an anxiety disorder.
That alone would have been enough to make it a rocky year, but several other things happened. First of all, in his confusion about his parents - the pressure of them protesting, the confusion and loneliness of feeling like he had no friends at Hogwarts, and the fact that he still loved his family - led him to hex Professor Upton, the Equiano head of house. He had a panic attack and was immediately caught by Professor Thornton.
Also, this was the year that he finally realized he had no shot with Ivy. At the Halloween dance, Silvia mocked him and then used a spell to cut him, leaving a permanent scar on his shoulder/chest. After this happened, Ivy came in and publiclly humilated him, putting him down in front of everyone. That was the moment he realized he had no chance with Ivy, which sent him spiraling into anger, bitterness, and loneliness.
But all was not lost. Not long after, he would meet Ophelia. Ophelia was different than anyone he had ever known. She accepted him - even though he was mean and terrible and tried to drive her away. She just accepted him completely. Of course, it was not always wonderful in paradise. But it was much better and Finley finally felt not alone for the first time in a long time. Despite the fact that Silvia and Riccardo seemed determined to harass them, even going so far as turning Ophelia into a bug.
Now there are explosions at Hogwarts.
Personality Description: The best word to describe Fin is arrogant. He feels that he is the best, that he is all that, the bees knees, you name it. He holds a lot of standing in people’s pure blood status and while he won’t ignore people who aren’t pureblood, though he is starting to rethink this. He is almost acting in two ways until he can figure out which way is the right way. His intelligence doesn’t help him be less arrogant either. He also likes to show off quite a bit and be the center of attention, doesn’t matter if it’s for good or bad reasons.
This attitude of his has led to bad habits though. For example, it has made him quite the braggart and when he feels like someone he doesn’t particularly like might possibly be as good as or better than him, he will lie to try and make himself seem better. Of course, getting caught in these lies is never fun, but Fin assures himself it’s worth it for the times it saves him from having to associate with those he would rather not. He can also be quite bossy.
Even though Finley still has an attitude of arrogance underlying his actions, he has also grown to be quite insecure. He thinks terribly of himself and this is frequently reflected in his actions.
He’s not all bad though. Those who are lucky enough to get past Fin’s rigorous standards who Fin respects, however, will find that he is a fiercely loyal friend. When he finds respect is due, he respects them and once you’ve won it with him, you have pretty much guaranteed it for life, though not always. He only wants to associate himself with certain kinds of people. He’s also very brave because he feels like he can’t lose face, which means he can’t be scared of anything. He also definitely likes to have fun. Imaging crazy things is right up his alleyway and it helps his bragging that he can exaggerate so well.
Physical Description: Finley is not small for his age nor is he big, he’s sort of just average. His hair is pretty full and it’s brown. It goes down to about half way his ears and he even has bangs that he makes sure never get long enough to fall into his eyes because he finds that so irritating. His eyes are a lighter green and hazel color. His skin is fair, but at times he can have a lot of freckles. His nose is fairly wide and big pushing his eyes a bit farther apart. When he smiles, it takes up his whole face. He even has dimples. He also has a permanent scar on his shoulder/chest from where Silvia hexed him.
As far as clothing goes, he likes to be practical but yet still look good. He wants to look like he belongs in the part of the upper class that he does. However, he still likes to be able to move around and do whatever he wants in his clothes too. He has a port wine birthmark on his right shoulder as well that he hates for other people to see, so he doesn’t wear tank tops very often.

Special Talents: If being able to always think of yourself as superior to most other people was a special talent, Fin would excel at that. As far as his real special talents go, Fin excels at reading and at remembering. He has an uncanny ability to just remember the most bizarre little details. He is also very good at talking his way out of trouble. And he can produce fake tears. He is also fairly good at fixing broken things (not people or hearts though).
He is also especially talented at pissing off Pru Young. This talent works both ways, as he is also especially talented at being pissed off by the aforementioned Hufflepuff. There are lots of speculative reasons as to why this happens, but the fact of the matter is, it almost always occurs whenever these two elements are unfortunately forced to co-exist on planet earth.
RP Example: Finley lay in the grass and stared right ahead of him. He saw the frog, standing so still. Finley was hardly breathing and the frog was just inches from his face. It had taken him hours to get even just this close.
The frog’s belly went in and out. It’s eyes were away from him and Fin didn’t think he saw him. Slowly he began to move his arms up, inch by inch, stopping with every inch gained to make sure the frog didn’t see him. Would he finally be able to catch this frog?
He was certain he was close enough now and he moved his hands to capture the frog. However, at the last second the frog turned and looked at him and with a loud ribbit! jumped away. “Drat!” Finley exclaimed. Why is it that this same frog always kept alluding him?
“Fin,” his mother called out. “Time for dinner. Come inside!” Sighing, Fin got up to go inside. I’ll get you the next time. Fin thought to himself.
