3 years working the Germany’s International Magical Office of Law as an Assistant
1 year (sort of) working in the Department of International Magical Cooperation as an assistant in the International Magical Office of Law with a few months spent testifying in the German magical courts of law as an expert witness
Superb secretarial skills from all of the things she did at the ministries that were secretary in nature
History: Lily was born in small town England on August 28th, but moved to Germany at a young age, where she spent most of her time speaking English. She had a hard time picking up on German at first, but eventually she was able to overcome the language boundary. The language problems she had at first, however, led to her being outcasted from her muggle primary school. The kids often went too far in teasing in her and picking on her. It didn’t help that she was showing signs of magic from an early age and weird things were happening around her. During the middle of this, when she was nine, her father left and Lily had always blamed herself and the weird things that she did. It was not long after that that the kids in her school took it too far and made her sit outside in the pouring rain during lunch. She got in trouble for that too, what with being the weird kid and them not believing her. Things would only continue to get worse for Lily as she found out that she was a witch. She began going to school in Berlin, where she didn’t exactly fit in, but Durmstrang wasn’t an option as she was a muggleborn. Her skittish and shy attitude made her an easy target for the boys to hex her. This led to her being very scared and nervous around guys, just in general for a period of her life.
When she was in her fifth year, however, Lily and her mother moved back to England and Lily began at Hogwarts, where she would make her first friends. While she had been going to school in Germany, Lily had developed several issues that effected her physical and mental well being. The first of her friends she met, Drew Thornton, got her to admit to these problems and promise to help her work them out, which he eventually did. This was when there was a great fire at Hogwarts though, and it almost didn’t happen because shortly before the fire happened, Lily had been at a party and due to her self-consciousness, this made her extremely uncomfortable. It didn’t help that Drew had sort of forced her into the spotlight. However, despite this, his easygoing nature made him a fast friend of hers.
However, the friendship was not the smooth and easy one she’d always pictured. Drew, of course, was dating Alhana Starbreeze at the time. Lily, however, had a crush on him and wound up kissing him one night while she was showing him how well she played piano. This complicated things and from then on, most of what Lily did could be described as back stabbing. Even so, Drew kept on trying to be her friend while she kept on screwing it up. Lily’s mother died and things only got worse for Lily. Lily, fearing her only choice was to be sent back to a dad who didn’t want her, ran away in the middle of the night to Germany, leaving letters for her friends Drew, Dan Weston, Cleo, and Kellen. (A side note about her friends and how she made them, since they don’t really fit in chronological order. Kellen she made one night when she couldn’t sleep over poetry and general talking. Dan was her sort of boyfriend, but Lily broke up with him because she felt she was too screwed up and that all he wanted to do was to fix her. Cleo was one of her friends who also helped her with the same issues Drew did.) Of course, this backfired as Lily ended up getting attacked by three of her classmates from muggle primary school who were now much bigger. Cleo and her boyfriend of the time came to Germany and saved Lily when Lily broke the bracelet Cleo had given her, alerting Cleo as to where she was. It was better than the boys’ plans anyways, as they were just going to fly pretty much randomly over Germany and try and find her. Drew welcomed her back with open arms, even if things were still a bit on edge with them. Things continued to deteriorate between the two, despite everything Drew did for Lily, which included helping her get her emancipation papers so she could stay at Hogwarts.
But Lily quickly found another friend, and love intrest, in Nic Torque. Nic was the Slytherin, who, from the first time they met, had made Lily laughed and they soon found themselves in a relationship. Nic taught her to play pool and she was finally feeling kind of good about herself when health complications from issues she had previously resolved caused her to have a heart attack one day playing pool and she had to go to the hospital wing, where it was unsure for a time, if she would make it or not. This is also when she discovered the other complication from these issues - that she would probably never be able to have kids.
That was when Lily finally went through her mom’s things and discovered, much to her shock and amazement, that she had a secret half-brother who lived there in London. Lily went to find Matthew, a muggle kindergarten teacher, and tell him that oh, by the way, I’m your sister and your mom is dead, which is pretty much what happened, though not necessarily in that order. At any rate, she didn’t break it to him very subtly. She went to live with him for a short while, while she tried to figure out what she was going to do with her life. She decided, with her German language and English language background to go back to work for the German Ministry of Magic in the International Magic Office of Law. She broke it off with Nic, who, in the couple of times she had almost gone, had his heart broken enough and apologized to Drew, who she hopes has finally accepted her apology.
She lived in Germany for a while and things weren’t that bad for her. She enjoyed her work, even if it was at times a bit tedious, it was reliable and it paid the bills. She also found herself romantically involved with this guy she worked with, Michael. It seemed like things were going to work out – he even asked her to marry him. She said yes and to everyone they seemed the happy couple, but the night before the wedding, she came to him in tears and said, “I’m sorry, but I can’t marry you.” She set down the ring and walked away from the relationship, without even giving him so much as a reason. She later figured out the reasons, telling Drew in a conversation about it,
She also had struggled with feeling like he was perfect and she would only be the one who ever made mistakes in the relationship.
Facing the shame of this and knowing they worked in the same department where rumors flew quickly, she put in her transfer to go back to England and to that Ministry of Magic. Upon it being accepted, she began to pack and face the move and a new chapter of her life.
This new chapter of her life started off great. Lily was moving on with her life – in fact, she even met someone new, Dylan Marshal, who she fell in love with . However, this was not to last. When Michael, who had been working on a top secret government project was killed for it, Lily was called back to Germany to testify. Right before she left, Dylan proposed to her but Lily told him no because she wasn’t sure if she was going to come back or not. She didn’t want to make that kind of promise only if she was going to be killed or have to assume a different identity forever. She didn’t want him waiting for her his whole life.
In Germany, Lily testified, putting away a killer they had been trying to get basically since she started working for the ministry. Lily had to testify about the information she was privy too and information about the threats she had received before she moved back to the UK. She has mixed feelings about Michael’s death and sometimes feel a bit of regret that she knew he was still hurting over her when he died, but she knows he’s in a better place now.
Upon returning, Dylan proposed to Lily again and Lily accepted this time and they began to plan a wedding for immediately. Nothing, even planning a small wedding of eight people, was easy for Lily. First because she wanted Drew there and Drew and Felicity’s wedding was planned for roughly the same time. Second because she wanted Drew to walk her down the aisle (though she has yet to this point to tell him that). When she went to tell him I want to be friends again and I want you at my wedding, they had their usual blow up, but this time it was different. Lily and Drew are actually maybe on the path to being friends again, though it will be hard however.
Because of the trial however, Lily had been sequestered for her safety because she was a witness. This gave her a lot of time to think and reflect on her life and what she was doing. She was sure about Dylan – that never wavered in her mind. However, she was less sure about her job. She wasn’t sure she liked working for the government and she wanted to feel like she was helping people. Yes, she helped put a killer away but she wanted to be working with people directly, not with dangerous criminals.
So she started thinking – she could either work with kids doing something like teaching, only she wasn’t old enough yet or she could do something like be a healer but she does not do very well with blood or puke or any of those kinds of things. However, when she heard that Hogwarts was looking for a librarian, she knew that was a job she could do with ease. She had always been organized and she knew how libraries work from years of using them in depth herself. So she thought to herself, why not try and apply for the job?
After failing to get the job, sure, Lily was disappointed, but she was determined still to get out of the ministry. Things in her life were good because she was getting married and because her friendship with Drew was improving. So she was determined to make her goal happen, not to give up.
So she knew she couldn't be a healer because of the blood, but she still wanted to help people. Then of course, the perfect thought occurred to her. She could be the Welcome Witch at St. Mungo's. Minimal blood and she still was part of that process of helping people. So with that, Lily became the Welcome Witch for St. Mungo's.
Shortly after this, Lily and Dylan were married in a small ceremony in the year 2023. Thus began their tumultuous marriage. It was not because Lily and Dylan weren't a good match - oh no, Lily and Dylan were an excellent match. But because of all the events of their first years of marriage.
Mainly the trial. But what a trial it was. It all started when Lily and Dylan were counselors at summer camp. Lily had a camper, Jessica, go off to go swimming by herself. Lily saw her drowning and tried to save her, but it was not enough. The young girl died. Furthermore, looking for fingers to point, the Ministry (as carried out by Drew) arrested Lily and accused her of murdering Jessica. It was too much time spent in prison and it was hard on all of them.
But she was eventually found to be not guilty and freed, much to the delight of Dylan and Lily. And to their further delight, on Christmas Day of 2026, Lily discovered she was pregnant. This came as a shock to both of them, as they had been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for a while. But Layla had been helping them and their dream of becoming parents was about to come true.
Natalia Joy was born on September 3rd, 2027 at 6:03 am weighing 7 lb 8 oz and measuring 19 inches long. She has been such a delight for Lily and Dylan and being a mother has been for Lily, simultaneously deeply hard and deeply fulfilling. When Natalia was 5 months old, Lily returned to work at St. Mungo's, towards the dream Dylan and her share in opening their own bookshop. For Lily, this dream feels like finally realizing what she is supposed to do with her life and although this is hard, she hopes that they will be able to make this a reality.
Personality Description: Lily’s personality is interwoven with her history, with a trait that stems from the very beginning with her mother. Lily has always been kind, or at least, tried to be kind, though some may not always see it that way. She just isn’t quite always sure of the best way to be kind and she often thinks that how she is is being kind when it often is not. She had, for a long time, a tendency to stick her foot in her mouth – one that she would like to think she’s outgrown, but she also feels compelled to be honest to a fault and in reality, still sticks her foot in her mouth a lot. However, Lily is definitely a gentle spirit overall. She’s the kind of person who, if she saw someone lying on the side of the road, she’d stop to help.
She’s also highly intelligent. She was shy and then she became much more outgoing, willing to chat with just about anyone she met. Sometimes though knowing Lily is like a giant TMI moment all the time because she just blurts out things at the most inappropriate times.
She used to generally distrust people but I would say time has flipped her as of recently to make her almost too trusting. She loves hard and fast and sometimes gets close to people too much too soon for their comfort level. She is very self-conscious and insecure, though she is working hard to keep this under wraps by trying not to let this show and she is growing out of it in little steps at a time. Lily tries hard to be happy, but this isn’t always a successful outcome. This makes her reluctant to try new things, especially when it might lead to her failure. While she was away, she came to realize that she was the person she could be and there was nothing else that she could do about it. She also realized that some people were always going to dislike her, no matter how hard she tried. However, despite these, she still struggles with her image.
Lily is also very, very stubborn and passionate, which is has both its good sides and its bad sides. A good side of that is that she is very unwavering in her beliefs and her thinking and almost lets no one get in the way of that. The bad side of that, is that sometimes her beliefs are wrong and harmful to herself and her thinking is not so easily swayed. Another bad side is that she can be very extreme. Sometimes things are very black and white with Lily – an all or nothing, one way or another, no middle ground type deal.
Physical Description: Lily is definitely petite. Standing at only 4 foot 11 and weighing “next to nothing”, she is often overlooked because of her small stature. Her hair is a curly strawberry blonde color. Once long, she recently chopped it and made it short, going hardly past her ears. Her skin is very pale, and burns, not tans. She generally wears clothing that doesn’t stand out and she greatly prefers robes for their comfort. She has several scars from when she ran away, one of her legs, as well as on on each hand. The ones on her hands are shaped like a square ending in a circle, almost like a sideways mushroom. But this point, they are very faded, but they are still there and Lily remembers where they are, though to other people, they would most likely never notice.
As far as her face goes, her mouth is small but defined. Her eyes are blue and are quite often full of life, though you will see the whole range of emotions in them. Her nose is small and centered on her face. She still hasn’t quite gotten over the teenage acne stage and her face is often broken out. Her ears are small and often hidden.

Special Talents: Lily, herself, wouldn’t exactly consider herself as having special talents. However, she is particularly smart. She also is a keen researcher – able to find out information about almost any topic if she wishes, which would help her help students who needed to do research. She also can speak German fluently. Also, she has the practical skill of being a very good mediator as long as she, or someone she isn’t partial to, isn’t involved. This doesn’t happen often, but she still could do it. Her charms work is, particularly exceptional.
RP Example: Drew was quiet again. Lily was left wondering if what she said had somehow made it worse. That was classic Lily, always screwing things up again. She was pretty sure everyone else she knew from that time had forgiven her. Everyone except Drew. Then again, she had never screwed any of them over as much and as continuously as she had screwed Drew over.
She wanted to stay and tell him what he meant to her but at the same time, she wanted to leave and give him what he wanted. Could she be her bigger person and confront her fears to do that? She didn't know if she could. Drew meant so much to her and she was sure her thoughts sounded like a broken record by now but really, he was like family to her. Not that he would ever understand that. Well maybe he would if she ever got a chance to explain it to him. But she couldn't explain it to him, not just yet. She couldn't say Drew, the only person that means more to me than you is Dylan and I can't picture my life without you in it. But that's what she would be creating now - her life without him in it.
Could she do it? Could she walk away? Could she give Drew what he wanted? She knew if she said this, it probably meant that they would never be friends again. That scared her. She needed him in her life. But she truly cared about him and wanted the best for him. And she was not it, she just had to accept that no matter how hard it was.
It was so scary though. Could she really do it? Could she really walk out on him? If she said it, it would feel like she was giving up on their friendship. But he needed to be not as miserable as she obviously made him. This was not about her and how badly she needed him because he would probably never understand that and he would probably never need her.
No, she couldn't say it. She just couldn't do it. She had worked this hard not to give up on them all this time.
It would break Lily's heart to say that, she would feel like she was giving up. She would feel like she had just lost the last chance she ever had at them being friends. She couldn't go back on her word if she said it and if she wasn't prepared to do that, then she shouldn't say it.
She wouldn't have tried so hard even just two or three years ago, but she kept insisting to Drew that she had changed. And this was what a changed Lily looked like and did. The changed Lily had figured out how to actually show she cared about people (or was still trying at any rate).
But man it was a struggle, one that Lily would probably always be trying to figure out.
Should she say it? Should she not say it? She was on the fence about it.

What was a girl to do?
