Accepted! Welcome to Hogwarts: The New Ages!
Full Character Name: Ivayne Theodora Blackwood
D.o.B./Age: June 14, 2011 / 17
Place of Residency: Isle of Wight, UK
Blood Status: Mostly pureblooded
History: The Blackwoods and Eddingtons were long time family friends, and many had married each other throughout the centuries. There had been many feuds between them; sometimes over business dealings or disagreements, but the latest was an accusation over Deanna Eddington. Mrs. Blackwood had told everyone in Isle of Wight that young Deanna had bewitched young Arnold only so she could break his heart and leave him for the younger Byron Blackwood. While Mrs. Blackwood and Arnold warred with the Eddingtons, Deanna and Byron ran away and eloped. Despite the very mean spirited rumors Mrs. Blackwood had started, they were, in fact, in love and, no, she was not with child. The Blackwood and Eddington feud of 2004 was not as serious as the one from 1989, but almost as scandalous as the three consecutive ones from 1843. In the end, however, both families realized that Deanna and Byron were serious, and finally welcomed their union.
Just a few years later, new additions to the Blackwood family arrived. The last of three children and the only female child of Deanna and Byron, Ivayne was born high noon on June 14th, 2011. She was welcomed by two older brothers who instantly fell in love with her, and have taught her everything she knows. She always kept up with their step up until they both went to Hogwarts. Autumn had been her favorite season up until it's arrival meant that school started for them. While she longed to use magic like her parents and brothers, she's convinced that something goes on at Hogwarts that just isn't right. The more her brothers are away from her at Hogwarts, the less they want to play with her. But it wasn't too long until an owl arrived for her, admitting her into Hogwarts as well. While it was customary for parents to to be proud and excited for their child to get their first Hogwarts letter, it was difficult to enjoy it when their daughter shouted at them that she would absolutely NOT attend.
Despite her misgivings and objections, Ivy was present on the Hogwarts Express, but it took her almost half of the school year to really accept that she was a Hogwarts students and that it really wasn't that bad. It wasn't until then that she started making a few friends here and there. She discovered Potions was her worst subject, while she made great strides in Charms and DADA. After overcoming anxiety to play Quidditch (because her siblings always said she wasn't very good), she finally joined the Slytherin team. Her Captain helped her past her insecurities, but just as she was about to debut in her first game, her mum sent her a Howler and absolutely forbade that she play due to her young age and small size. Totally embarrassing.
During her second year, Ivy learned that her eldest brother Greyson had disappeared, which sent her family on an intense search for him. For many months, Ivy was afraid he was dead and his name would appear in the papers like she had been reading. The only person she told was Bryce, who had been in a coma after being hexed by his foster brother into a magical sleep. She didn't know about his wereabouts until the summer with Finley McArthur told her that he'd been with his parents all along, seemingly launching himself deep into pureblooded society.
By the end of her third year, Ivy had endured the harassment of many other Slytherins who had now zeroed in as a traitor to their pureblooded culture. Emotional and and physical abuse are the most significant things she would remember from this year, but it was at least countered with her close friendship with Matthew Cooper.
Personality Description: Being the youngest of three, Ivy is more spoiled than anyone would like to admit. She is familiar with everyone's desire to keep her happy and while she doesn't take too much advantage of it, she knows that things generally go her way. If things don't work out, she tries to find a way around it to the best of her ability. Worst case scenario: she can always throw a fit. Her temper is easily provoked but just as easily abated. It may seem that she is flaky or unreliable, and won't apologize for reaction quickly and harshly, but will admit when her judgment was wrong.
Ivayne enjoys laughing and practical jokes, though she would rather not be on the receiving end. Sports don't come easy to her, but a bit of competitiveness allows her to improve when she tries hard enough. She will love anyone that will love her, and will try not to shout at anyone who doesn't.
Physical Description: Standing proudly at an even 4 feet, Ivayne has deep brown eyes set in a light, creamy complexion. She had long thick hair up until just a few weeks before receiving her Hogwarts letter, when she discovered muggle gum. She had ignored her mother's warnings, and had gotten into a gum-throwing match with her cousins. Both girls were punished by their mothers by having their hair cut to have the gum removed, but had not allowed anyone magically grow it back for them. Her cheeks are usually rosy from excitement or from running around, and her face is usually seen with a crooked, toothy smile.
Likes:
- Her brothers
- Quidditch
- Camping outside
- Charms
- COMC
Dislikes:
- Fake pureblooded purists
- things that 'buzz' (like bees)
- being caught sleepwalking (which happens all the time)
Special Talents: Despite her aversion to sports, the yearly Slytherin struggle for the House Cup has honed Ivy into an improving athlete. From her first Captain, she was able to identify her strengths and weaknesses and use them to her advantage. She excels in her Charmwork and has recently found a deep interest and appreciation for Care of Magical Creatures.
RP Example:
Shuffling her new deck of cards, Ivy's little hands could barely hold the stack longway. She flipped them over, faces side up, and sorted them by suite to kill time. Her mother had sent her directly to her room to calm down after she had exploded at them for making plans about Hogwarts for her. There was no way she was going to that place. It had taken her brothers away from her, and now it was going to make her boring too. Sure, they came back about wicked stories about the ghosts in the hallway, the Giant Squid in the lake, the House Cup, new spells... well, yes all of those things sounded like the kind that Ivayne wanted to be a part of, but her resentment didn't allow her to get excited. Why were they excited about going away to school. Ok, the castle part sounded like fun, but she had to live with people she didn't even know and, for all she knew, her brothers probably wouldn't even talk to her. Hot angry tears welled in Ivy's chocolate eyes as her frustration overwhelmed her. She didn't want to go.
She was glad no one was watching her cry, and let her tears fall, shuffling the deck slowly, and tried not to remember the last time her oldest brother wiped the tears from her cheek. From what they told her, it wasn't something he was going to do any time soon. What were the chances of her being put into the same House? And he was older and had his older friends. Why were they better than her? It didn't matter because now she and him ever did was shout at each other, while their middle brother ignored him. Ivayne knew that HE knew that she was right, but he still didn't say anything... so it was just as bad as him going against her too. If this was how it was going to be like at home, why would she bother going to Hogwarts?
