Freddy Hjort's family history has been spotted with mishaps, even before he was born. He knows his Grandpapa had one and left his family because of it, traveling like a gypsy to get to London, where he finally decided to stay and live. A while later, a mishap lead his Grandpapa to meeting his Grandmum, who had a few mishaps of her own in life. First, she was a witch! And then she had to drop out of school to help her parents out (and Freddy was glad because he loved his Great Grandmum and Grandpapa).
For a while there wasn't anything bad in their lives, until his mum and dad were in a car crash. Freddy doesn't really remember anything, of course, at such a young age it wasn't expected of him to remember one detail about his parents, at least not one of his own. His family surrounded him with stories, pictures, memories, and he always felt close to both of his parents, but at times he hates them for the very reason that they're dead. They left the earth without giving him and his siblings a chance, well, without giving him a chance. Only a few months old, and he'd been orphaned, lumped into the group of kids who didn't have real parents. Of course, he would always say his Grandmum and Grandpapa were just like parents, but he knew it wasn't the same, especially with their ages compared to his.
And at eight years old, mishap struck again when the life of his Grandmum was taken.
Despite the mishaps, Freddy has had a rather easy, good life. He was born to a middle-class family, both of his parents having held upstanding jobs in the world in their heyday, with three older siblings. So, he might not always get along with Matthew, Jeremy, and Lisa, but they were his family if you weren't counting his extended family. There was his Grandpapa Ib, Grandmum Meadow, Aunts: Raquel, Meredith, Fawn, Felicity, Jean, Abagail and Jenifer; his uncles: Dennis, Harold, Jared, Samuel, and Zachary. Not to mention all of his cousins. Really, he's blessed, and he knows it.
For almost his whole life he's been living with his Grandpapa, and most of it with a number of other family members as well, but now things are new. He's moved in with Felicity in her crowded apartment for the next couple of months, and wants to be a Wizard, the first he knows of to be in his family. He'll be attending a new school, a magical one, and it scares him, but at the same time, he's ready to prove he isn't the same old scared little kid he used to be.
In his time at Hogwarts Freddy has made many friends, too many to count sometimes, although all unforgettable. During this time, he met Jaimie Stark (later Wilcox) and invited her to live in the Thornton household while they were on vacation, but an early return led to the discovery of the homeless girl who needed a family. His Fifth Year he was made Ravenclaw Prefect and his Seventh Year he somehow managed to become Head Boy, beating out all of the other candidates in his year. His Sixth Year lead him to discover his first troubles with girls, namely Heidi Palomo, Jaimie (Stark) Wilcox, and Sarah Taylor, however it all ended when Freddy finally kissed Sarah and told her he wanted to be with her. Ever since young kids, he'd always wanted to be with Sarah, he loved her and always would, but sometimes he's left wondering if what he wants was fair.

Being the youngest of four, Freddy has many insecurities about his life. Who is he exactly? The kid never had the chance to really get to know his mum and dad like the rest of his family, he was so young when they died that he didn't have that chance. And it seems like he's been missing out the whole rest of his life, too. Everything around him happens, but never to him, or always to him. When it does happen to him, it's usually not a great thing.
Kind of whiny, Freddy was always babied when young and never really had the chance to grow up because of how his whole family treated him. The baby, the youngest, the most innocent. That was him in a nutshell, and what bothered the boy most was that everyone treated him that way. They were the reason he'd never gotten to grow up, really make friends of his own, find something about him that made him special. Everyone had already done it in his family, or someone had. Felicity was a witch, Matthew was a star soccer player, Uncle Harold was a detective, Grandpapa was the coolest guy on earth. What was there really left for an outcast like him?
Okay, so he could be funny when he wasn't trying. And he was pretty good at taking lessons seriously, not to mention he wasn't half-bad at lacrosse. But that was about it. Everything else was just barely average, except maybe chess, he was pretty good at that. Yeah, chess. Felicity taught him how to play, and he joined the chess club just like she had. But still, she'd done it first.
Naive, from being both young and ignorant of the world he's entering, Freddy will be one of those kinds of students who stare wide-eyed and boggled at everything around him. Caring of those around him, he tends to be over-dramatic when it comes to making sure everyone is settled and happy, or at least content with what is happening. And though he has tendencies to be quite friendly, he can be quite guarded and careful around others, as well. If he doesn't like a person off the bat, it's unlikely he'll pay particular attention to them, but he does open up around those he feels connected to. Though he is enthusiastic, he tries to brush it off as being something else, he might be jittery on the inside and calm and collected outwards.
What he really wants is to be able to prove himself, show that he's better than everyone else. He needs that chance to prove he can do things just as well, if not better, than everyone else who's done it already. It's why he was so willing to go the way Felicity had, if he screws up no one but she would know about it, and she and Grandmum were the only ones who'd done it before him. Yeah, he needs this chance for himself.

Standing at a height of six foot two inches, Freddy is a tall kid. He doesn't think there's anything special about him, especially about his looks. With the red hair that his father had and even his blue eyes, Freddy managed to gain his mum's looks otherwise. Looking mostly like his oldest brother Matthew, the freckles across his nose and cheeks look mostly like his favorite Aunt's, Felicity.
His red hair has grown a few inches longer than his usual cut, trying to get in on a long haired, yet cool impression when others look at him. Unfortunately, with his squared jaw the look just doesn't fit. Not to mention, he looks older than his years, and so when looking at his reflection he imagines himself trying too hard to impress everyone around him. But that's his look, and he's not getting rid of it anytime soon. Or, he hopes he isn't.
Blue eyes, the same as his dad's, Freddy appreciates that part of his looks. Sure, he doesn't look much like his dad at all. And he was the only one of his father's kids to get the stormy orbs, which kind of makes him feel like he's a bit closer to his dad.
He likes to wear blue jeans and t-shirts with prints on the front. The boy could care less the color, or the print, as long as it isn't something over the top (though his favorite color is pink) or just plain stupid. The robes his Aunt made him buy look really stupid, and he doesn't believe her that all students will end up wearing them. Who seriously walks around in a dress at school except for girls?
Likes:
- Quiet

- Greek Foods
Dislikes:
- Missing his Grandmum
- Licity's Boyfriend

Special Talents:
Freddy is really talented at chess, and he's a fair player when it comes to athletics. Always top of his class in mathematics, he enjoys algebra and difficult theories where math applies. He's also more cultured than many would think. Despite his being sheltered throughout life, he loves to read, and has learned much about other cultures, religions, and schools of thought. He can also belch his ABCs consecutively, but he can't get past "E" with just one belch.
RP Example:
Amazing.
That was the only word Freddy could come up with to describe what he was seeing. It was truly amazing. Like a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not to mention just how wonderfully beautiful it was, as nature was usually described. There was something about this particular section in the zoo he'd always enjoyed, watching the penguins slip and slide back and forth on the ice in their pen. Or even when visiting the penguins who by far preferred warmer climates, laying about in grass and on rocks. They were naturally beautiful, and despite being different from many of their kin, they never seemed to look awkward or out of place in life.
Freddy wished he felt more like that. To have the ability to feel at east in any situation, to find a love of your life and always be with them forever in life, and to have no cares in the world. Sure, he knew in the natural they probably had a lot of worries, but here, at the zoo, they were taken care of. They were fed, watered, bathed, loved, observed, caged... okay, so maybe they didn't have it that good. But still, it had to be easier being a penguin than it was to make a decision like he had to make.
To go, or stay? To hurt Felicity, or Grandpapa? Freddy just wasn't sure what he wanted to do. Yeah, that was a huge lie, he knew but couldn't make the decision without hurting someone and he wanted to keep what peace was still between Felicity and Grandpapa as he could. But how to do it? Grandpapa already made it clear that he wouldn't be able to live at his house if he went to Hogwarts, and Felicity was willing to take him in. And he really wanted to go. But to be cut off from his family like that? What to do? How many other eleven year olds had to deal with a situation like this?
