To the west of the castle lies yet another large part. The Quidditch field is a major attraction to many students and professors alike. Here is where practices and games are held, those who are bored practice alone, some play pick up games, others do laps to clear their minds. It is a place of magical bearing, where everything is more than it seems. A place to meditate, a place to play, a place for privacy or large groups. Just don't cross the Quidditch Referee.

To the south of the cliff where the castle rests is the location of the Hogwarts Lake. Many students can be found swimming and playing in the depths of the water, but hopefully all stay clear of the many creatures within the depths. Merpeople, a giant squid, and grindylows are only samples of the creatures that wait patiently for visitors to their lands. Beware of this area due to the many dangers that await--creatures, ice, darkness--and never swim alone.

Sitting on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, the old caretaker’s hut stands, a number of strange magical creatures still reside within. Though the hut now acts as a classroom, with desks and boards set up and ready for use, the Magical Creatures class itself is still often held close outside near the pumpkin patch. A large fenced area and stables stand behind the hut, where the professor holds new magical creatures to share with the class
